    Hydrant repair notice

    Reminder:Section 10-1-30 Winter Parking Restrictions. The Village Board hereby declares that a snow removal and public safety emergency exists in the Village of Rio whenever there is a snowfall. Except as otherwise provided in this Chapter, no person shall leave any vehicle parked on any Village street during snowfall and twenty-four (24) hours following such snowfall.

    Snow and Ice Removal from Sidewalks Village ordinances require property owners to remove snow and ice from public sidewalks within 24 hours after the sleet or snow ceases. When ice has formed on the sidewalk so that it cannot be immediately or completely removed, the owner or occupant shall treat the ice with a substance which will prevent slipping (salt or a gritty substance). If the owner or occupant fails to comply, the Public Works Department will remove snow or ice and/or spread salt. The cost of this work will be assessed to the lot or lots benefited and shall be billed or collected in the same manner as other special taxes the Village. The rate charged for work done by the Village is: $100 per hour with a $100 minimum. Please note that the Village ordinances also prohibit the blowing or plowing of snow into the street or onto the neighbor’s property. Violations will be subject to a fine.

     

    Spectrum has hired contractors to install fiber optic cable. The constractors will be working on the installation in the next couple of months.
